Qualitative – Descriptive data that does not include numbers.
Example: The rose is red and has a sweet fragrance.
Quantitative – Numerical data based on measurements.
Example: The tree is 10 meters tall.
Inference – A logical conclusion based on observations and prior knowledge.
Example: The ground is wet, so it must have rained.
Observation – Information gathered using the senses.
Example: I see smoke coming from the chimney.
Hypothesis – A testable explanation for an observation.
Example: If plants receive more sunlight, then they will grow taller.
Prediction – A statement about what will happen under certain conditions.
Example: If you don’t water a plant, it will wilt.
Biology – The scientific study of life.
Example: Studying how cells divide to form new cells.
Metabolism – The chemical processes that occur within an organism to maintain life.
Example: Humans breaking down food to get energy.
Homeostasis – The process of maintaining a stable internal environment.
Example: Sweating to cool down when it's hot.
Heredity – The passing of traits from parents to offspring.
Example: A child inheriting brown eyes from their parents.
Mutation – A change in DNA that may lead to a different trait.
Example: A genetic change causing a fruit fly to have red eyes instead of black.
