A gurdwara is a sacred space for Sikhs to worship Waheguru (God) and is termed "gateway to the Guru." The Guru Granth Sahib is the holy scripture at every gurdwara, treated with respect akin to a living guru.

Gurdwaras are open to everyone, symbolized by their four entrances: Peace, Livelihood, Learning, and Grace. Visitors demonstrate respect by removing shoes and covering heads.

Main Features

The darbar serves as the worship area without religious images, emphasizing Sikhism's abstract view of God.

Community Role

Gurdwaras also function as community centers offering langar (free meals), facilitating ceremonies, and promoting educational initiatives, emphasizing humility and equality.
