2nd Great Awakening:

Definition: a Protestant religious revival and emphasized individual piety, personal salvation, and a direct relationship with God. Influenced social reform movements, including abolitionism, temperance, and women's rights


Abolitionist Movement:

Date: 19th century

Defintion:a social and political campaign aimed at ending slavery and the slave trade, primarily in the United States


Women's Rights Movement:

Date: 19th century

Definition: a social and political movement aimed at achieving equal rights and opportunities for women, advocating for issues such as suffrage, education, and labor rights


Temperance Movement:

Date: 19th century & early 20th century 

Definition: a social and political campaign advocating for the reduction or prohibition of alcohol consumption


Populist Movement:

Date: Late 19th century

Definition: a political and social movement in the late 19th century that sought to represent the interests of farmers and laborers against the economic elite and big business


Progressive Movement:
Date: early 20th century 

Definition: a diverse group of reformers in the early 20th century who sought to address social, political, and economic issues caused by industrialization and urbanization
