Cosmetology Theory - pH
pH - Potential Hydrogen
pH Function/Does
Measures acidity and alkalinity of a substance
pH represents the quantity of hydrogen ions
Range from 0-14
7 is neutral
0 to 6.9 is acid
7.1 to 14 is alkaline
Logarithm means multiple of 10
pH of the hair and skin is 4.5 to 5.5
Alkaline on Hair - expands it, opens up cuticles.
Put neutralizer on after these services to close the cuticle up again.
Farther you move from 7 (neutral). Stronger/more acidic the product will get.

lemon juice (pH: 2.00-2.60)
limes (pH: 2.00-2.80)
