Bioethics
Anthropocentric: benefits humans (humans are most important)
Ecocentric: places value on the entire environment and all life in it

Animal Rights vs Animal Welfare
Animal Welfare: Focuses on quality of life
Animal Rights: no animals should be used by humans for any reasons
Leopold’s Ethical Community
“The land ethic simply enlarges the boundaries of the community to include soils, waters, plants, and animals, or collectively: the land”
Preserving integrity and stability of land is important
a thing is right when it tends to preserve integrity, stability, and the beauty of the biotic community
Conclusion: we should do things that preserve that integrity, beauty, stability… not do other things that hurt it
