Tools Needed for Manicure/Pedicure
- Manicure Bowl / Foot Basin: Container for soaking hands or feet.
- Nail Brush: Used to clean nails and remove debris.
- Hoof Stick / Orange Stick: Tool for pushing back cuticles.
- Cuticle Knife: Implement used to remove cuticles.
- Cuticle Nippers: Small scissors for trimming cuticles.
- Emery Boards: Used for filing nails.
- Pumice Stone: Tool for smoothing rough skin, especially on feet.
- Nail Clippers: For trimming nails to desired length.
Products Needed for Manicure/Pedicure
- Sterilising Liquid / Hand & Feet Sterilising Spray: For disinfecting tools and surfaces.
- Cuticle Massage Cream: Nourishes and hydrates cuticles.
- Cuticle Remover: Chemically softens cuticles for easier removal.
- Hand & Foot Massage Cream: Used to massage hands and feet.
- Nail Enamel Remover: Remove polish from nails.
- Nail Enamel: Color coat, base coat, and topcoat to protect and beautify nails.
- Foot & Hand Soak: Solution for soaking hands and feet to soften skin and nails.
- Foot & Hand Scrub: Exfoliating product for removing dead skin cells.
- Foot & Hand Mask: Treatment for deep moisturization.
Specialised Treatments
Hot Oil Mask:
- Purpose: Nourishes and strengthens nails, deeply moisturizes dry hands.
- How It Works: Warm oils (e.g., jojoba, almond, vitamin E oil) are applied. Oils penetrate skin and nails, softening cuticles and improving nail flexibility. Followed by massage and wrapping in warm towels.
- Benefits: Deep hydration, strength for brittle nails, improves skin texture and elasticity.
- Ideal For: Clients with dry hands, damaged cuticles, or brittle nails due to environmental factors or frequent hand washing.Paraffin Wax:
- Purpose: Softens skin, improves circulation, relieves joint stiffness/pain.
- How It Works: Hands are dipped in warm, melted paraffin or it is brushed on. A coating traps heat and moisture; hands are wrapped in plastic and mittens for warmth. Peel off after 10–20 minutes for soft skin.
- Benefits: Intense moisturization, boosts blood circulation, soothes joints and muscles.
- Ideal For: Clients with rough skin, arthritis, poor circulation, or seeking holistic care.
Procedure for Manicure/Pedicure
- Consultation with the client to determine needs and preferences.
- Sterilise all tools and surfaces to maintain hygiene.
- Assess the condition of nails and skin.
- Remove nail enamel with remover.
- File nails to desired shape and length on both hands/feet.
- Buff nails of one hand/foot to enhance shine.
- Apply cuticle cream on the same hand/foot.
- Soak the treated hand; repeat steps 6-8 for the other hand/foot.
- Dry first hand and apply cuticle remover.
- Gently push cuticle back with hoof stick/orange stick.
- Remove excess cuticle using a wet cuticle knife in circular movements.
- Nip away remaining cuticle with cuticle nippers without pulling; repeat steps 9-12 for the other hand.
- Remove any remaining cuticle using a nail brush.
- Scrub first hand/foot in circular movements up to the elbow/knees, rinse and dry; repeat for the other.
- Remove hard skin following only one direction with a pumice stone; rinse and dry.
- Massage hands/feet using massage cream or medium, following a routine.
- Wipe nails from any remaining greasy residue with a cloth.
- Apply base coat using 3-5 strokes, allow to dry completely.
- Apply nail varnish using 3-5 strokes, allow to dry completely.
- Finish with a topcoat using 3-5 strokes for a glossy finish.
