  1. Sub-Saharan Africa is the portion of the continent south of the desert.

  2. Caravan is a group of traders that travel together.

  3. Sedentary means a group of people living in a fixed location with agriculture.

  4. Nomadic is a lifestyle which has no fixed location and in search for resources, these people are called nomads

  5. Hunters and Gatherers are people who get resources by living of the land

  6. Mercantilism means economic trade policy where you export more than you import to gain wealth.

  7. Monopoly means exclusive possession or control of the supply of a trade.

West Africa

  1. Some of the Geography found in west Africa was the Nile River, the Niger River, the Sahara desert and the Congo river.

This continent is bordered by several major bodies of water

Africa is the second largest continent.

  1. One thing about the nile river is that it starts in Central Africa and flows normally

  2. One thing about the Niger river is that it begins in West Africa

  3. One thing about the Congo River is that it begins in Central Africa

  4. One thing about the Zambezi river is that it begins in Zambia 

  5. You cannot travel the rivers from start to end because rivers have waterfalls and cataracts 

Ghana and Mali

  • While the empire of Ghana was in decline, the Kingdom of Mali was growing

  • Mali began in the South of Ghana, around the Niger River

  • They expanded trade thoughout the empire and across the Sahara

  5. Why did social and economic struggles relate to the forests in the Middle Ages? They were centered around the ownership and access to timber. 

Mercantilism

  1. How did Mercantilism affect Britain? The colonies gave materials to Britain, like timber and Britain made goods from these materials and sold them back to colonies.

  2. How did Mecantilism affect the colonies? Mercantilism affected the colonies by having access to the British markets to sell their products and there was limited economic growth in the colonies.
