  • Priming: more about describing a subject factually, but utilizing a negative light

  • Framing: more about slanting the message

  • The Internet:

    • 1995, 1% of population was active on internet

    • Now, 85% of population has access to internet

  • Fake News: news that is not true, designed to push an agenda

    • With internet news, anything you disagree with can be fake news (that makes no sense but ok)

  • Social Media: allows people to be more active in the news, as it immediately occurs.

  • New Corporations are Companies

    • If they sensationalize a topic, and get more clicks than the
      competitor that doesn’t, they will do it again. In this regard, the endless cycle of news sensationalism is caused entirely by the consumer.

  • Constitutional Amendments: XI, XII, XIII, XIV, XV

    • XI: Protects states from being sued by other states, introduces federal judicial powers

    • XII: process of elections

    • XIII: ended slavery

      • Section 1: slavery nor involuntary servitude cannot exist within the US

      • Section 2: Congress has the power to enforce this amendment

    • XIV:

      • Section 1: Birthright Citizenship

      • Section 2: Changes 3/5, a state’s representation in Congress can be reduced if the state denies the right to vote to any of its male citizens

      • Section 3: Eliminates Confederacy within Federal government

      • Section 4: reparations are illegal

      • Section 5: Congress has the ability to enforce any provisions of this article

    • XV:

      • Section 1: voting advancement laws for non-white makes

      • Section 2: Congress can enforce this.
