Narrative structure
1. Embedded narratives
→ Novel has more than one narrator; two major types:
episodic novel with interpolated tales
subplots that often have little or nothing to do with main plot
Nested structure
Main plot is narrated from a number of different perspectives
(Can be unreliable or have destabilising aspects)
2. Composite Narratives
Story is told through compilation of separate documents
e.g. diary entries, letters, legal documents, newspapers, narratives supplied by individual characters
