The Grenville Supercontinent and Geological History
The Grenville refers to geological formations associated with the supercontinent cycle, particularly focusing on the amalgamation of supercontinent Rodinia.
Pre-Pangaea Supercontinents:
Penascha: Broke apart approximately 500 million years ago.
Rodinia: Existed around 800 to 900 million years ago.
Columbia (Nuna): An earlier supercontinent thought to precede Rodinia.
Ur: One of the earliest known supercontinents dating back near 2 billion years ago, also holding the record for the second oldest.
