Spatial Patterns
A spatial pattern refers to the arrangement and distribution of different elements across a geographical area./ Different geographical features on Earth Surface.
The 4 distinct Spatial Patterns
Absolute Distance- Distance that can be measured in Ft or miles.
Absolute Directions- absolute direction refers to a precise angular measurement of direction, typically based on the cardinal points of the compass: north, south, east, and west.
Clustering- refers to the concentration of similar items or features in a specific area, which can be viewed as a grouping of elements that are closely located to one another.
This can often be seen in patterns such as urban developments, and biological populations. For example- Manhattan
Dispersal, on the other hand, describes the spread or distribution of elements over a geographical area.
Dispersal can occur due to various factors like environmental conditions, competition for resources, and human activities. For example, farms and houses in Michigan.
Elevation- Measure the height of Geographical Features relative to the sea level.
For example: The Andes Mountain Range. A South American Mountain range that exceeds 18,000 Ft in elevation.
