Eyes

  • Retina -  receives and organises visual information.
  • Optic nerve - sends visual information to the brain
  • Yellow spot/fovea - is the sharp central vision in the middle of the retina that is necessary for humans for reading, driving, and any activity where visual detail is of primary importance.
  • Blind spot- provides us with vision and we are able to see what happens around us, it is the point where the optic nerve and blood vessels leave the eyeball.
  • Iris - controls pupil size and the amount of light getting into the eye.
  • Pupil - allows light to enter the eye so the retina can focus.
  • Vitreous humour- transparent colourless gel like substance that fills the space between the lens and the retina. It allows light to reach the retina and maintain the shape of the eyeball.
  • Lens - allows the eye to focus on certain objects at varying distances.
  • Cornea - The main purpose of the cornea is that it helps your eyes focus
