Writing Equations in Point-Slope Form

==Steps & Reminders:==

  1. Find slope
  2. Point-slope form
  3. Remember to turn two negatives next to each other into a positive
  4. Remember point-slope stops before you would distribute for standard form.

Example:Example:

(-4, 6) (2, -2)

  1. ==Find slope==

-2-6 -8 -4

          = =

2-4 6 3

  1. ==Point-slope form==

y-y1=m(x-x1)

y-6=4/3(x--4)

Example:Example:

(-2, -6) (4, 6)

  1. ==Find slope==

6--6 12 2

             = =

4--2 6 1

  1. ==Point-slope form==

y-y1=m(x-x1)

y--6=2(x--2)

  1. ==Turn 2 negatives next to each other into a positive==

y+6=2(x+2)
