gcse french speaking: photocard

timings:

  • the photocard is second and lasts three minutes

  • in your 12 mins of preparation, you should spend 8 - 10 minutes preparing for the photocard

what am i assessed on?

  • 15 marks for communication

    • reply to all 5 questions clearly and correctly

    • develop at least 3 answers

    • give opinions and explain/justify them

use PALMO!!

  • P - People: who is the in the photo? include number of people, genders, etc.

  • A - Action: what are the people doing? give at least 2 actions.

  • L - Location: describe the setting (the place + the weather) and use au premier plan, en arrière plan, à côté de, etc…

  • M - Mood: what are the people’s emotions? give justifications e.g. ‘je dirais qu’elles ont l’air contentes, car elles sont en train de rire’

  • O - Opinion: what do you think of the picture and what does it remind you of? e.g. ‘j’aime vraiment la photo parce qu’elle est très belle, et elle me rappelle mon enfance’

reminders:

  • your answer to ‘qu’est-ce qu’il y a sur la photo?’ should be the longest.

    • responses must be detailed, and descriptions must only be rooted from what is in the photo.

    • include conjectures, e.g.

      ‘je pense qu'il fait chaud parce que les gens portent des shorts’

  • justify all opinions that you give
