Supranational Organization-

• Several countries working together for a purpose

• Economic

• Political

• Military

• ever-evolving(not static)

• Most of them require countries to give up a little bit of sovereignty 

  • Agreement to follow the organizations decisions

    • If a country does not follow the decisions, the organization can not do anything 

      • Bigger countries have more power

      • More powerful countries have to help out when decisions are not followed

• Different from treaties because treaties are “set in stone” and supranational organizations have room for arguments and debates

• Lack of enforcement within most supranational organizations 

Benefits of Joining Supranational Organization 

• Good for safety 

  • Especially smaller countries 

• Huge economic benefits 

  • Trades

• Good diplomatic relations

• Allies

• POWER

  • Big countries that can use these organizations to “throw their weight around”

  • Smaller countries benefit by allies and economic relations
