DNA polymerase III adds bases in 5’-3’ direction on leading strand

Lagging strand is formed in short pieces called okazaki fragments

DNA primase add RNA primers : allows DNA polymerase III to add gaps

DNA polymerase I replace RNA primers with DNA nucleotides

DNA ligase joins the okazaki fragements together
