INFORMED CONSENT

  • making pps aware of the aims and procedure of the research

  • reminding them of their rights, specifically their right to withdraw at any point during the study

DECEPTION

  • deception is deliberately misleading or withholding information from pps

  • occasionally deception is accepted as if the pps know the true aims of the study, demand characteristics may become an issue

  • at the end of the study, pps should receive a full debrief at the earliest convenience

PROTECTION FROM HARM

  • pps should be protected from physical and psychological harm

PRIVACY AND CONFIDENTIALITY

  • pps have the right to withdraw their data at any point
