POST IMPRESSIONISM

Is a term coined to describe the works of artist in the late nineteenth century who rejected impressionism. The post-impressionism artist continued using vivid colors, often thick application of paint, and the use of real-life AVL subjects. They are more inclined to emphasize geometric or distorted forms for expressive effect.

He would even exaggerate or change the appearance of things if it suited to him.

    Starry Night reflects his intense emotion that made him commit suicide after leaving mental institution.
