Parsons- functional fit theory, primary socialisation and stabilisation of adult personalities. Warm bath theory. Supports segregated conjugal roles.

Critiques: Murdock- dark side of the family & alternative things which perform the family’s function.

Functionalist fit theory- more working women. Men can also be involved in childcare. Outdated.
