- Molecules are formed when elements bond covalently.
- Compounds
- Compounds are substances composed of 2 or more atoms.
- Organic Compounds:
- Always contain carbon.
- Must have at least one carbon atom bonded to hydrogen or another element (hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen).
- Examples: proteins, vitamins.
- Inorganic Compounds:
- Do not contain carbon bonded to hydrogen (or are non-living compounds).
- Examples: carbohydrates, lipids, acids, water, CO₂, minerals, fertilizers.
