Human Papilloma Virus—HPV, DNA virus, causes warts, oncovirus, can

lead to cervical cancer

• Hepatitis C Virus—HCV, chronic RNA virus, oncovirus, liver cancer,

transmitted sexually, blood borne

• Varicella-Zoster—VZV, latent DNA virus, in Herpes family, transmitted

droplet/oral, causes chicken pox with viral reactivation resulting in shingles

• Herpes Simplex Type 1 and 2 –HSV 1 or 2, latent DNA viruses, group of

viruses, are numbered, sexually/ oral transmitted, causes cold sores,

genital herpes, birth defects

• Human Immunodeficiency—HIV, RNA virus, causes AIDS, chronic or

latent disease
