Peace and Justice – Summary
Peace:
Means the absence of war and a feeling of happiness.
Christians and Muslims both value peace as a goal for individuals and nations.
Justice:
Means doing what’s right or fair and making up for wrongs.
Linked with equality — if people don’t have equal opportunities, it’s seen as unjust.
Christianity:
Prophet Isaiah spoke of a time of peace — “Nation will not take sword upon nation” (Isaiah 2:4).
Christians aim to make peace and believe God, the ultimate judge, will bring justice and settle disputes.
Islam:
Islam in Arabic means peace.
The Qur’an teaches peace is essential:
“The servants of the Lord of Mercy… walk humbly on earth, and when aggressive people address them, reply with words of peace.” (Qur’an 25:63)
