metals - bronze, sodium
gold - highly unreactive
lead - lead roof roll - highly workable, melting point 327.5 - waterproof roofs
copper - workable, durable, melting point 1085, low maintenance
- if uncoated - reacts air + water = copper carbonate
aluminium - rigid + workable - precise / stable shapes - easy to cut + assemble
- supporting system for cladding materials, can be formed into complex, adjustable systems
- powder coating / anodising
zinc - standing seam roofs, relatively reactive - will react in preference to the coated material - decays / corrodes without proper protection / maintenance of protection

- in structure (of buildings) - hot rolled primary beams, hot rolled primary columns, cold rolled secondary
- in elements (of buildings) - wall restraints, standing seam roofs, windows
