Alkenes
Alkenes have at least one double covalent bond between carbon atoms.
The general formula is CnH2n
If we know the number of carbon atoms, we can calculate the number of hydrogen atoms by multiplying by two.
The main alkenes are:
Ethene
Propene
Butene
Pentene
Alkenes are unsaturated as they have two fewer hydrogen atoms than the alkane with the same number of carbon atoms.
