Cattle Industry & Frontier Life
The cattle industry boom occurred right after the civil war.
To move livestock to markets, ranches would use cattle trails. The helped the industry grow.
The cattle boom was a part of connecting Texas to outside regions while also helping to boost the economy.
To end the open range, ranchers put up barbed wire which also led to the decline of long cattle drives.
Groups like ‘Cowboys’ and ‘ buffalo soldiers’ , and they protected settlers and maintained order.
