CAB Overview Meeting Notes (9/29/2025)

Introduction to CAB (Campus Activities Board)

  • Meeting led by Emily, Vice Chair, fourth-year political science major with a minor in information and media literacy.

  • Chair Yvonne absent but will attend future events, and members can text her with questions.

Expanded Board Structure

  • New positions added to the board this year:

    • Programming and Operations Director

    • Two Directors of Rarium and Plus

    • Communications Director: Ariana

    • Public Relations Directors: Marty and Miriam

  • Purpose: More support for CAB events and initiatives.

Overview of CAB

  • Definition: CAB is the official liaison between student groups, staff, and UCLA administration.

  • History:

    • Founded in 2020, reopened after dormancy last year.

    • Oversight by USAC IDP office in previous year.

  • Structure: Made up of representatives from over 20 student organizations.

  • Objective: Improve staff decisions on campus issues by amplifying student voices.

    • Input on USAC resolutions ensures a diverse perspective.

CAB's Role and Function

  • Serves as a platform for members to:

    • Ask questions

    • Discuss new ideas and suggestions

    • Express concerns to better serve the community

  • Importance of creating a welcoming environment on campus.

Participation and Collaboration

  • Encouragement of participation from both returning and new organizations.

  • Opportunities for members to collaborate and learn about overlapping initiatives from dev reps.

  • Emphasis on community building through meetings and interactions.

Future Plans

  • Goals for expanding participation in CAB activities this year.
