Civil Services Examination Structure
Exam Pattern Overview:
The Civil Services Main Examination has a system divided into obligatory and optional subjects.
The examination includes a total of 2025 marks consisting of written tests and personality tests.
Question Papers:
Paper-1: Essay - 250 marks
Paper-2: General Studies-1 (Indian Heritage & Culture, World History & Geography, Society) - 250 marks

Paper ‘A’: English Language - 300 marks

Qualifying Papers
Nature of Qualifying Papers:
The two qualifying papers (English and an Indian language) are not considered for merit.
Minimum qualifying marks: 25% (75 marks) in each qualifying paper are required.
Essay Paper Details
Essay Requirement:
Candidates must compose an essay on a specified topic for which options will be provided.
The essay should stay relevant to the topic with clear and concise expressions.
The paper is divided into two sections (concrete and abstract forms): Each candidate writes two essays (125 marks each).
Word limit: Approx. 1000-1200 words for each essay.
