The book is disturbing because it openly talks about and shows common racist ideas. As a Black person, I feel it highlights how racism is a widespread truth. Many people wrongly think racism doesn't happen often, but it shows up everywhere in daily life and is a hidden way society thinks. Racism is more than just words; it includes actions and ideas people already have, like harmful stereotypes. This is like something that happened with two Black students at this school. They were supposedly talking loudly when a white woman asked them if they belonged there. These kinds of moments deeply affect a person's feeling of being part of something.
