For those spiritually dying, the message of the cross is foolish
Jews look for signs while Gentiles look for wisdom, both are stumbling blocks.
Some people see God’s wisdom as foolishness when he doesn’t pick the strongest or smartest
Nothing done in the flesh will find glory in God’s presence
Corinth has earthly mindsets and are babies in Christ

Corinthians are focused on who they learned Jesus from rather than Jesus’ message
Corinthians think that they are above all other Christians and are incredibly prideful.

Shame on them for taking disputes to local, secular judges rather than the churches own saints
The Corinthians used prostitutes and thought it fine
Some weaker minded Christians think buying sacrifice meat from pagans means you’re eating idol meat
Corinthians have lost their spiritual manners, serving themselves first at the table and getting drunk
Love is not self-seeking, rude, touchy, suspicious, or proud
Some Corinthians say there is no resurrection
The Corinthians become corrupted through their company with unbelieving Jews and Pagans
Truths
Be joined together by the mind and judgment of Jesus
The message of the cross is the power of God for those saved
Neither will be found when only paying attention to them
He chooses them to put shame on those who believe they are strong or smart, God works through everyone, not just those who are “worthy” (none are).
True wisdom and strength are done in God’s name, and that does find glory from God
Only the spiritually mature can hear God’s wisdom
Do not put faith in man’s wisdom but in God’s
A man who is spiritual can judge all things and not be judged
Christians are to work together but their reward is individualized
Beware of what you build your foundation with God on because it will be tested through fire
Those whose foundations burn may be saved, but only if they can withstand the fire of judgment themselves
God catches the carnally wise in their own machinations
Do not boast in worldly men
God is the only true judge
We are servants and stewards of Christ
Righteousness comes from Jesus alone
Little leeway of sin causes a greater corruption
Do not be good friends or hang out with sexually immoral people because of influence
Don’t put what you are ‘rightfully owed’ over God’s glory
Food laws of purity are different from sexual purity laws
RUN from sexual sin, do not try to fight it
Celibacy is good but marriage is good to prevent sexual sin
Being abstinent in marriage does nothing, be affectionate with eachother!
Each spouse has authority over each other’s body
When married to an unbeliever, the believer sanctifies the spouse with their belief!
Honor God rather than focus on the state he called you in
Be guided by love not knowledge
The food we eat does not make us more/less spiritual
Do not eat pagan-bought meat in front of weaker-minded Christians (even thought is really doesn’t do anything since no other gods exist)
Train your body as if you are in a race so that the flesh is weak to the mind (and the prize is eternal salvation)
Ask yourself when doing something if someone seeing you do it is good for them.
Eat and drink all for God’s glory
Don’t know don’t ask, but if someone says that food is from an idol sacrifice, don’t eat it.
The authority chain does not mean unequal
God and Jesus are equal but God is the father and over Jesus
Just as men are over women in authority but both are equal
Diversity is a strength from God
Don’t use your spiritual gift as a showboat or brag but to help those around you
All parts are important even those that seem unglamorous
Love is kind, patient, strong, believing, and enduring
Spiritual gifts fade but love is everlasting
Three great strengths: Love, faith, and hope
Wish for spiritual gifts! They are good if used right
Tongues is not for the believers, but is a sign to nonbelievers
If you speak in tongues, interpret and share it with your community!
Women are to keep quiet since they are only recently allowed to get an eduction and do not know how to judge yet
Women can pray and prophecy in church, just not judge yet
If there is no resurrection, the faith is pointless
Jesus’ resurrection was the first fruit of our own resurrection
We will have different bodies in Heaven than our physical
Burying a believer is like burying a seed for this new body to grow
Tithing is good
Let everything you do be with love
Do not let yourself falter if you can help it.
