What is a Brand

AMA (American Marketing Association) They say that brand is a name, term, sign, symbol, or design or a combination of them intended to identify the goods or services of one seller and to differentiate them from those of its competitors

To brand originally meant burning, the verb sense of to permanently mark with a hot iron.

Marks of ownership

Logo

when you go to the grocery store to buy your laundry detergent, I want the one that says Tide on it. And Tide becomes the mark of ownership for that particular product, and we consume accordingly

Silhouette of the packaging

The same thing goes when we see this bottle, to whom does this bottle belong to? Of course, you're probably thinking Coke, because of the silhouette of the bottle. So not only does the logo act as a mark of ownership, but so does the silhouette of the packaging.

Color

she knows that the colour on that package signifies Tiffany's, that that package belongs to Tiffany's because of the colour. So the colour also acts as a mark of ownership.

Michael Jordan sweating. But what does that sweat signify? It's orange, and that colour, we know, refers to Gatorade, it acts as a mark of ownership.

Clothes and way of movement

To whom does this mark belong to? Well, that's Michael Jackson, of course, and those socks are signifiers of Michael Jackson. So when you see someone just the socks only doing that kind of dance, you go, that's Michael Jackson, right?

Letters

Even letters I E, the block M acts as a mark of ownership, right.

This is what brand is, as a verb, it's to mark as a way to signify ownership.

Brands are marks of ownership.
