Neurons
The nervous system is made up of billions of cells called neurons.
Neurons carry messages in the form of electrical impulses.
There are three types of neuron;
sensory
Inter
Motor
Sensory neurons pass the information from the receptors to the CNS.
Inter neurons operate within the CNS.
The CNS processes information from the senses that require a response.
Motor neurons enable a response to occur at an effector.
A response to a stimulus can be a rapid action from a muscle or a slower response from a gland.
Chemicals transfer these messages between neurons. The space between neurons are called synapse.
