chemistry and physics lesson 12

Electrical field- the field around electrically charged objects

Electrostatic energy(static electricity)- stored energy

Capacitor- a gadget that can discharge static electricity when needed.

Current- a stream of electrical energy that flows without stopping

Insulator- protective shield against the flow of electrons.

Electric current- a flow of electricity through a conductor

Circuit- a circular path that starts and finishes at the same point.

Electrical grid- power plants, power lines, and transformers.

alternating current/AC- any electricity produced with a motor.

Short circuit- when electricity goes through the shorter path

Battery-  a combination of different objects that conduct electricity.

Load- what we try to turn on with an electric current

Resistor- anything that slows an electric current

Direct current/dc- when a current flows only in one direction

Volts- energy of an electric charge

Switch- device we use to open and close a circuit.

Series circuit- circuit with more than one resistor
