genesis

Explain from Catholic Christianity and Judaism or from two Christian traditions, views on how Genesis is interpreted(8)

(p1) Catholics see it as poem. don't believe it is a factual account. but it contains theological truths. eg. god is an omnipotent creator. secondly, dei verbim instructs catholic where reading the Bible, to take into account,: literacy form, culture and scared authors intention .lastly, pope Francis supports by saying we risk seeing god as a 'magus'. he said creation continued for millennia and millennia. this means that when genesis 1 says god commanded 'let there be light' catholics would instead interpret this as the big bang.

p2) another views comes from fundamentalist christians. they believe that genesis is a factual account of creation which has no errors. this means that when genesis states humans were made on the 6th day, fundamentalist believe this really happened. the belief that the world was created in 7, 24 hrs days is known as creationism. they reject scientific theories as they see it as a direct conflict with the word of god.
