3.5 Alcohols
Structure of etanol:+
Due to anaerobic respiration.
Troverdig alkohol: glykol, inneholder to OH-grupper, glyserol - has three
What is Glyol: ethylene glycol, has two OH groups: +
Kjemisk formel for glykol: C2H4(OH)2
application of glykol: eksempel 20
Kjemisk formel: C3H3(OH)3, has three -OH- groups
Glyserol characteristics: thick ans sweet, colorless liquid made from fat.
What is glyserol as a component?: component of triglocerides (a type of fat/lipid) +
What are triglycerides: plays a major role in the structure of plasma mambrane of cells
Formula for the reaction for glyserol: glycerol + 3 fatty acids -> triglyceride lipid + water
Glyserol products: cosmetics, medicin, explosives.
characteristics that alcohols get for the hydrogen bond: hydrophile abilites.
Alcohols abilities: higher cooking temperature than alkanes with same c-atoms.
Why does alcohols have higher cooking temperatures: when it has more -OH- groups, makes more oppertuities to make hydrogenbindings between the molecules.
Hydrophile alcohols: alcohols are still be watersoluble even though they have short carbonchains. Bc the -OH- groups are hydrophile.
Why are alchohols with longer carbonchains more hydrophobic?: because the oppisite polar charge (which is hydorphobic) dominates the alkohol. Makes it less watersoluble and more soluable for organic solvents.
Naming: like hydrocarbons: ethanol "etternavn" -ol +
two examples of alcohols: methanol(trepsrit), etanol (used in eddiksyre osv)
The simplest alcohol: methanol
romtemperatur metanol: tresprit,
