In the beginning, there was only Chaos, a void of emptiness. From Chaos emerged Gaea (Earth), Tartarus (the Underworld), and Eros (Love). Gaea gave birth to Uranus (the Sky), and together they became the first divine couple. They had many children, including the Titans, the Cyclopes, and the Hecatoncheires (giants with a hundred hands).

Uranus feared his powerful children and imprisoned them in Tartarus. Gaea, angry at Uranus, plotted with her son Cronus. Cronus overthrew Uranus by attacking him with a sickle. After taking control, Cronus ruled alongside his sister Rhea. However, he feared that his own children would overthrow him, so he swallowed them one by one.

Rhea, wanting to save her youngest son Zeus, tricked Cronus by giving him a stone wrapped in cloth. Zeus was raised in secret and, upon reaching adulthood, confronted Cronus. With the help of the Titan Metis, Zeus forced Cronus to regurgitate his siblings: Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon.
