Nation State: Where a territory corresponds to a particular ethnicity.
Examples are Denmark, Japan, and other Europeans Countries
There is not a large diversity of population to cause problems.
Multi State Nation: The people have mayority political influence in at least one state. Most often divided in two.
Examples are North and South Korea, and Sudan and South Sudan
Not a large enough population to cause problems, but there is 1 ethnic group that has been divided.
Multi Ethnic State: Contains >1 ethnicity. Many ethnicities contribute culturaal features to the formation of a single nationality.
People have the ability to move, and they live in an integrated way, contributing to an unique identy.
Examples are the United States and Canada.
Multi National State: Contains >1 ethnicity with traditions of self determination.
Examples are Russia and Yugoslavia
Lacking integration and one ethnic group is favored over the other. A lot of self-determination.
Stateless Nation: An ethnic group or nation that does not possess its own state and is not the majority population in any nation state.
Examples are Kurdistan, Catalonia and Palestine.
They don’t have political representation.
Autonomous or Semi-Autonomous Regions: Area where a group has some type of political autonomy, usually at the local level.
Examples are Native American Reservations and Nunavet
They are geographically separate, lack full decision making and autonomy.
