Mistake Type: Concept Error

My Error: Ignored the keywords "2-celled" and "3-celled" and focused only on "male gametophyte".

Key Concept:

2-celled = Vegetative + Generative → 1 mitosis per microspore

3-celled = Vegetative + 2 male gametes → 2 mitoses per microspore


Topic: Ploidy Levels

Mistake: Didn't know the ploidy of embryonal axis; guessed.

Key Concept:

  • Embryonal axis = 2n

  • Endosperm = 3n

  • Synergid / Egg / Antipodal = n

  • PMC = 2n

Trigger: Embryonal axis → Embryo → Zygote → 2n

Mistake: Focused on function instead of ploidy.

Key Concept: Anther wall cells = 2n → diploid plants. Pollen cells (vegetative/generative) = n → haploid plants.

Mistake: Forgot that 1 anther contains 4 microsporangia and each microsporangia contains many MMC .

Key Concept: 1 anther → 4 microsporangia → MMCs → tetrads → pollen grains → male gametes

Shortcut: 1 MMC → 1 tetrad → 4 pollen grains → 8 male gametes

Trigger: If MMC are given per microsporangium, first multiply by 4

Concept : Fusion of protoplasm between two motile on non motile gametes called plasmogamy.
