Import File Preparation
A copy of each original sent by the client and to be imported into ProVal is saved to the LAN.
All changes or updates needed to be made should be made to this copy.
The data notes template should be updated with each change we do, any applicable notes or comments.
Confirm with the VA (Valuation Actuary) if they want to check the file before it is imported to ProVal.
Typical Changes
Insert a new row just under the columns of data (This rowed is called Field Mapping Row). It indicates the exact ProVal field name the data is imported into. The word “<Skip>” indicates if a field was not imported into ProVal.
Make sure to create cName if name wasn´t provided. Also add “oSource” to each tab/spreadsheet to indicate the origin of the data and
Format the data if not already internally consistent.
Don’t get too excited about data changes. Make them within ProVal and not in the import. The reason is because we have a really essay way to document the changes when we use in ProVal.
ProVal Import Instructions
There are 2 types of Databases.
Steps for importing
How many databases are needed. Decide which one is the main database and which the work database.
Create the database, remember to follow conventions.
Standard naming conventions:
Main Database:
Date format:
The field value mapping should be carefully reviewed during the import process cause ProVal is gonna guess, so:
Don’t automatically use suggested codes, since during the import process the “exact matches” and “Allow similar matches“ is used for each coded field.
It’s okay to map codes to similar matching codes in some situations. (Gender where proval is coded M and F, not male or female.) Follow the data dictionary.
