Indices

Indices are the little numbers that go diangonally above other numbers. For example $y^{x}$ .

They can often be reffered to as powers and are the second part of BODMAS (Brackets, Order, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction) or BOMDSA (Brackets, Order, Multiplication, Division, Subtraction, Addition).

Examples

$8^2=64$

$\frac34^2=\frac{9}{16}$

$\frac{a}{4}^{b}=\frac{a}{4^{b}}^{b}$

$\frac{a}{4}^2=\frac{a}{10}^2$
