Continuing Medical Education (CME)

  • Guidelines Overview

    • CME guidelines revised in 2014
    • Certification now follows a 10-year cycle with 5 two-year cycles
    • PAs must earn 100 hours of CME every 10 years:
    • 50 credits from Category 1
    • 50 credits from Category 2

  • Requirements for CME

    • CME necessary post-licensure
    • Formats include in-person/live events, reading articles, and answering questions for Category 1 credits
    • No more than 50 Category 2 credits allowed
    • Transition to mandatory take-home testing every two years
