Geometry - Special Right Triangles

Special Right Triangles

  • 30-60-90 Triangle Ratios:
    • Sides are in the ratio of 1 : \sqrt{3} : 2.
    • If the shortest leg is represented as (x):
    • Short leg (30°) = (x)
    • Longer leg (60°) = (x\sqrt{3})
    • Hypotenuse (90°) = (2x)

Finding Missing Side Lengths

  • Example using (x = 10):

    • Short leg (30°) = (10)
    • Longer leg (60°) = (10\sqrt{3})
    • Hypotenuse (90°) = (20)
  • Results:

    • Legs: (10) and (10\sqrt{3})
    • Hypotenuse: (20)
