Luca Opperman In-N-Out Incident Summary

Lake Elsinore In-N-Out Standoff

Shortly before 1 a.m. at an In-N-Out Burger near Walmart in Lake Elsinore, California, a 53-year-old woman began smashing the interior counter with a tree branch. The disturbance began after restaurant workers declined to replace her cold burger, which had gone uncollected after her order number was repeatedly called. Seeing the staff flee, 20-year-old customer Luca Opperman climbed through the drive-through window into the kitchen to intervene.

Intervention and Resolution

Inside the kitchen, Opperman picked up a spatula off the counter to face the woman. When she turned away to shout at nearby onlookers, Opperman executed a rugby-style shoulder check, tackling and disarming her without injury. Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff's Office arrived shortly after, arresting the woman and citing her for felony vandalism and brandishing a weapon.

Background and Athletic Profile of Luca Opperman

Opperman's rapid maneuver through the window was aided by a lifetime of extreme athletics, including rugby, taekwondo, parkour, and freestyle trampolining within a Southern California subculture known as "flippers." Earlier in the year, during a live show in San Diego hosted by journalist Andrew Callaghan, Opperman performed a sideflip directly over special guest Hunter Biden.

Viral Aftermath

The standoff was recorded on video by drive-through witness Pamela Alvarado and subsequently went viral online. After the deputies concluded their response, the restaurant staff cooked a fresh meal for Opperman and his girlfriend, Haley Williams.
