1. Adjectives

  • Definition: Adjectives are words that describe nouns.

  • Function: They provide additional information about the noun, specifying attributes or characteristics.

  • A tall boy flew a red kite.

    • What kind?

      • The boy is described as "tall".

      • The kite is described as "red".

  • The two boys flew kites.

    • How many?

      • There are "two" boys.

      • Refers to "every" boy, indicating all boys are included.

2. Adverbs

  • Definition: Adverbs are words that describe verbs.

  • Function: They provide additional information about the verb, specifying how, when, or where the action takes place.

2.1 Questions answered by adverbs:
  • How?

  • When?

  • Where?

2.2 Examples:
  • The kite fell quickly.

    • How?

      • The action of the kite falling is described as happening quickly.

  • The kite fell today.

    • When?

      • Specifies that the action occurred today.

  • The kite fell nearby.

      • Indicates the location of the action, meaning the kite fell close to the speaker.

We have learned that we can celebrate God’s goodness and His gifts using descriptive words, such as adjectives and adverbs. We know that God is pleased when we rejoice and celebrate His gifts. We can use funny words as well as serious words.

Christians can use words to acknowledge and celebrate God’s many gifts.
