euthanasia/assisted suicide
Catholics teach that Life is sacred from the moment of conception to natural death (CCC). This means that they object to taking of a life for any reason.
It breaks the commandment “thou shall not murder’ as it is intentionally taking a life.
Euthanasia interrupts the plans God has for us “I know the plans I have for you” Jeremiah
In Evangelium Vitae - Pope John Paul II said Euthanasia was “morally unacceptable” and we must continue to provide ordinary care for the person.
Pope Francis said to be aware of “False compassion”. This means that taking the life of a terminally ill person is not true compassion. True compassion is when we care for the person until they die naturally.
Palliative care is an acceptable alternative to Euthanasia and in the CCC is encouraged as a special form charity.
