Human population has not always grown at the rate currently, this is due to -

  • Agricultural output increased

  • Separation and treatment of human waste

More food and improved sanitation caused -

  • Death rates to fall but birth rates remained relatively high

  • A period of rapid population growth (almost exponential growth) that has caused ~7.8 billion human population

Human populations is influenced by social and cultural factors that are not as relevant to other biological systems

  • Healthcare, birth control, education,
