drywall, plaster board, hyprock = GWB

  • Type x and c video: 1950s CGC introduced— 1 hr fire rating - has special glass fibers. CGC ideal for ceiling applications. Type X not suited for long term - type C for ceilings

  • The most common level of GWB is level 3

  • level 2 is fine if your going to tile the area or in a garage

  • Level 3 is where you can start painting

  • The level 5 is the most smooth. You would want this one on a ceiling.

  • Dark paint and shine will show all imperfections

  • Primer is a matte and thin finish. It doesn’t show imperfections

  • Gloss finishes will show brush marks.

paint

  • latex is the most common paint es[ecially in residential- verygood for this setting… You can use it on the exterior now as well

  • Semi-gloss on the trim - wet area

  • walls - not flat instead maybe eggshell

  • latex paint is more water based

  • in residential, oil is not used as much

  • oil paint is good for covering stains

  • New paints have a built in primer

  • if youre repairing a wall, primer is a good idea

  • fire res paint creates a foam when if gets hot. It expands to make the foam
