Fluid & Atmospheric Pressure - Nov 18th-20th 2024
Factor on which liquids pressure depends
The pressure on the point of a liquid depends on the following 3 factors
Depth of the point below the surface (height/depth)
Density of the liquid (density)
Acceleration due to gravity (gravity)
height x density x gravity = pressure (liquid)
Laws of Liquid Pressure
Pressure is the same in all directions about a point in a liquid.

The water will land at the same lengthen because they have the same pressure
Pressure is the same at all points in a horizontal plane in a liquid station.

Pressure at a point inside a liquid increases with the depth

Pascal’s Law
For all points at the same depth below the surface of the fluid, the pressure is equal, provided that the fluid is at rest.

Atmospheric Pressure
Air surrounds the earth to a height of about 300km. This envelope of air around the planet is called the atmosphere. The weight of air creates the thrust on Earth. The thrust on the unit area due to the column of air on the earth’s surface is called atmospheric pressure.
This is about 100,00Pa or N/m² [1×10^5Pa]
The human body has an area of about 2m² meaning there is 200,000N of force being acted upon the human body.

Simple Barometer
A barometer is an instrument used to measure atmospheric pressure in 1643 it was designed by a scientist named Torceli using mercury.
