- Fair housing act of 1968 prevents landlords from preventing people to own or rent because of discrimination
- Universal declaration of housing rights observes housing rights a human right
- human rights council to reduce homelessness.
-Definition and ways to minimize consequences of gentrification:
- Gentrification is the displacement of people and their homes to fit more expensive housing, commercial buildings, and businesses. Usually racially motivated in minority neighborhoods of cities.

- involve the community
-Main problems in education:
- unequal distribution of money due to location of school and economic status of that neighborhood.
- unqualified teachers being hired due to lack of funds/teachers
- People taking their kids to private school instead of public because of fear it is not good enough
- People in underserved areas have harder time making it to higher education because of no scholarships/expensive schooling. usually ends up in low salary jobs.

- No child left behind- schools promised money if children do well on standardized tests
- vouchers for poor families to take their child to private school

- Victim reports
- Uniform Crime report-rating based on type and severity of crime.
-Theories of Crime
- Labeling-Certain groups have a harder punishment than others and may discourage them as well
- Structural Strain- Idea that everybody gets an equal chance at being successful and when it is disturbed, people become deviant.

- Arcology- Private living with communal aspects. Plenty of land separating other neighbors with courtyard in between. communal buildings to prevent isolation
- Frank lloyd wright architecture
- Place-making- helps achieve people’s potential by focusing on specific communities and doing participant research/planning to make personalized community
Definitions/success social movements
- Organized, long term, and collective groups that encourage/prevent social change.
- Sierra Club encourages climate friendly activities and prevents any motive that destroys the earth’s climate. well known in the united states and there is even a branch of the club at OSU.
- NAACP- National Associated for the Advancement of Colored People encourages people to vote on issues that will help improve treatment of people that are discriminated against. Very influential group in the United States for the past century.
