Term: Central Nervous System
Definition: The part of the nervous system that includes the brain and spinal cord, responsible for processing and transmitting information throughout the body


Term: Peripheral Nervous System
Definition: The part of the nervous system outside the brain and spinal cord that connects the central nervous system to the limbs and organs.


Term: Somatic Nervous System
Definition: The component of the peripheral nervous system associated with voluntary control of body movements via skeletal muscles.


Term: Nerves
Definition: Bundles of fibers that transmit electrical impulses between the central nervous system and other parts of the body.


Term: Reflex
Definition: An involuntary and automatic response to a stimulus, typically mediated by the spinal cord without direct involvement of the brain.
