  • ignores the influence of other factors on social inequality like ethnicity, religion and gender

  • communism is not always a positive method of government eg. USSR

  • it is too idealistic and simplistic

  • overly negative view of society -functionalists

  • overlooks further social division -feminism

    Economy is the base of society and whoever controls it has the most power

    The proletariat are unaware of how they are exploited and would for a Communist society of they knew
